New bathroom - phase 2!

20th November - this is how far we got after dad stayed on an extra week. Drilling holes in the tiles was a particularly difficult job (they are actually floor tiles and are possibly made of diamond)


21st November - the towel rail is in, and we were getting ready to install the bath so that we could have a wash in our own house! This was just before Joe headed off to South Africa again for a week in the sun


28th November - a week later, and the bath is in and being used!


18th December - getting closer to our target of having the shower operational by Christmas - only the shower screen to hang and shower head to install!

New bathroom - phase 1!

24th October - This is how the bathroom looked shortly after we moved in. Notice the wet patch behind the toilet - the waste pipe was leaking, which meant the bathroom project became rather more urgent!

3rd November: ready for the plasterer to come and repair the walls. From this point on we were using the downstairs toilet and showering at our friends' - fortunately they live just round the corner...

7th November - morning: ready for a final skim

7th November - evening: a blank canvas ready for the arrival of Audrey and John Beeching!

We have a completion date - we think...

Having been waiting around for ages sorting out issues with surveys and builders, we were anticipating that we wouldn't be moving house until the end of September at the earliest!

Then, Rach had a call from the solicitor yesterday, asking if we could complete next Friday! Which is excellent timing, as Joe's going to South Africa next Sunday for a week.

So we're back into "packing boxes" mode this week. Any visitors bearing cooked meals and cakes will be warmly welcomed.
